We need to prepare thoroughly; if Sudan falters, we must be ready to capitalize – Otto Addo.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is urging Ghana to be ready to seize any opportunity should Sudan falter, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Addo made these remarks following Ghana’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the qualifiers, which has further diminished their hopes of reaching the tournament.

Currently, Ghana sits third in Group F with just two points after four matches, while Sudan holds second place with seven points. Group leaders Angola have already secured their spot in Morocco. For Ghana to advance, they must win their remaining two matches and rely on Sudan losing theirs.

Otto Addo is acutely aware of these scenarios and emphasized the need for Ghana to be well-prepared to take advantage of any mistakes made by Sudan. He noted that the team was fortunate to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We must do our homework and be ready in case Sudan stumbles. We need to prepare and consider potential changes to our lineup,” Addo stated. “We must turn things around and assemble the best squad possible to defeat Angola in our next match.”

The Black Stars last missed participation in the AFCON back in 2004.
