Survey Gives Afenyo-Markin And Minority On Appointment Committee 67% Approval Rating

A survey conducted by ABC News’ research outlet, gives the Minority Leader and his team on the Appointment Committee an approval rate of 67%.

According to the survey, out of the 500 persons interviewed in ten regional capitals across the country, 67% expressed satisfaction with the Afenyo-Markin-led minority members on the committee.

The reasons given for their approval included but not limited to the following:

  1. Insightful and thought-provoking questions are being asked.
  2. Those who carry themselves as paragons of truth and integrity are being judged based upon the same standards.
  3. Nature of inquisitions have led to some people being unmasked as very corrupt.
  4. They have been able to open our eyes to a lot of things we hitherto didn’t know.

About 23% on the other hand, also expressed dissatisfaction and disapproval with the work done by the Minority on the committee. Some of the reasons given for their views include:

  1. Questions are not relevant to the portfolios of nominees.
  2. Afenyo-Markin seems to have a bone to pick with some of the nominees.
  3. The system is not fair to some of the nominees
  4. While some nominees are being grilled and asked many questions, some were never asked any questions, etc.

The remaining 10% said that they are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the process since nothing better would come from the exercise. They said that none of those being vetted would be disapproved by the House, therefore, they see the whole exercise to be futile.

The survey took place in Accra, Cape Coast, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Wa, Damongo, Ho, Sunyani and Goaso.
