The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nettey George, has in a Facebook post, censured ace writer and journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni.
Sam George, infuriated by a post made by Mr. Awuni, questioned the writer of his commitment to the moral development of the country he claims to love since he endorses homosexuality.
“For someone who trumpets the fight against corruption, I would assume that you truly love your country. What part of your culture supports homosexuality? What part of your upbringing embraces that perversion? I would expect better judgement from you” part of the post stated.
The maverick MP used the occasion to advise Manasseh not to be in a haste to have an opinion on every matter since that couches him as someone who is insensitive to the cultural norms of the Ghanaian people.
Manasseh Azure Awuni, in an earlier post on his Facebook timeline wrote; “If the laws of Ghana do not allow homosexuality, those same laws don’t allow an MP to threaten to beat up a diplomat or insult them on live TV. Sam George, this is terrible. And it’s a disgrace to the people you represent. Apologise to them and the Australian High Commissioner”
Sam George, in his reprisal, emphasized that he sees no reason to apologize for something he believes is consistent with the culture and norms of the Ghanaian people.
