Randy Abbey Appointed Acting CEO of COCOBOD

Dr. Randy Abbey, a prominent journalist and football administrator, has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

The announcement was made in a letter from the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The letter stated, “I am writing to officially inform you that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L 81), has appointed you as the Acting CEO of COCOBOD. This appointment will remain in effect pending the receipt of the constitutionally required advice from the Board of COCOBOD, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

This appointment follows the resignation of Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the former CEO, which was announced earlier this month.
