P. K Sarpong Writes: The Unneighbourly Attitude Towards the Government/Party By Media Outlets Needs Attention

I have seen a rather belligerent attitude of many media persons and platforms towards the government lately and same ought to be addressed.

Many of the media platforms have become hostile to the government not because we are not performing but for other reasons which are not far-fetched.

One has to embrace the uncomfortable phenomenon of listening to radio and watching television every morning with most of the hosts exhibiting anti-government tendencies.

Scan all the big shots (media platforms) in the morning and the script and narrative are the same; anti-government posturing.

A cursory observation of these worrying trends gives a picture that we are not taking good care of these media persons, especially those who were with us during our opposition days, according to them.

We cannot go into the next elections with such a hostile media environment. It is about time we took a second look at this issue and address whatever impasse between us.

If our relationship with the media were cordial, I am cock sure that we would not be struggling to get the masses to embrace the E-levy.

Election 2024 is in its embryonic stage so we can iron out our differences with the media. The differences here have nothing to do with we fighting them, no, it is important to stress that point. Let’s reach out to our people in the media landscape in ways which would mellow their disgruntled hearts and minds.
