The opposition NDC see Jean Mensa as an object of odiousness and have made it a point to constantly attack her for no justifiable reasons.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, in the Commission’s engagement with the media, emphasized the fact that due to its prudent measures and expenditures, the cost of the 2020 elections was drastically reduced.
She gave facts and figures to buttress her point, particularly as regards the cost pertaining to every voter which she said came to about $7 instead of the $13 expended on every voter by the EC in 2016.
Instead of disputing her figures, Peter Boamah Otukonor chose to attack Jean Mensa, and only said her claims were false without supplying any counter figures to justify his position.
Much to my consternation, Otukonor accused Jean Mensa of not showing empathy towards those who lost their loved ones during the 2020 elections. He practically blamed her for those lives which were lost.
What did Jean Mensa do to be held accountable for those lives which were lost? Absolutely nothing. Much as those incidents were regrettable, seeking to set up Jean Mensa for attacks over same is not only puzzling but nonsensical.
This is very typical of Otukonor and his group. As long as Jean Mensa was not willing to play ball and kowtow to their whims and fancies, she was to blame for their woes in the 2020 polls.
One can tell that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission is too hot for them to handle, hence their unnecessary attacks on her. All these strenuous efforts to sully the image of Jean Mensa will amount to naught. Jean Mensa is a solid brand because her integrity is intact!
