Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, admitted that he felt “dead” following the Black Stars’ defeat to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana suffered a 2-0 loss to the Falcons of Jedaine at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, on Tuesday, dealing a serious blow to their qualification hopes.
The loss marked the team’s fourth consecutive match without a win, leaving Addo’s side in third place in Group F with just two points.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the defeat, Addo told GFA media, “Honestly, the last two days after the Sudan game, I felt dead.”
However, he added that the support he received from family and friends had helped him regain focus. “Now, I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and support, and this is exactly the time I need it,” he said. “It’s helped me get back on track, and it’s crucial for us to look ahead and aim for victory in the remaining matches.”
The Black Stars’ hopes of advancing rest on their upcoming fixtures against Angola and Niger, where they must secure full points to have any chance of qualifying for next year’s continental tournament.
Angola have already qualified with 12 points, while Sudan, in second place, only need a draw in their final two matches to secure their spot.
