NPP Youth Wing Commends UTAG for Returning to Classes in Students’ Best Interest

Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has praised the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) for ending its strike and resuming lectures at the University of Ghana.

“It was wonderful to hear that UTAG has decided to return to classes,” Mustapha stated, adding, “I am truly pleased with this outcome and commend UTAG wholeheartedly.”

Previously, on October 28, 2024, Mustapha had issued a press release advocating for academic activities to resume in public universities, stressing that his appeal was made with students’ interests in mind. “I was thinking about the students’ academic progress and their constitutional right to vote, as many students registered to vote on campus,” he explained.

He acknowledged the worries among students and faculty members regarding the possible impact of a prolonged strike on the academic schedule. “I’ve had productive conversations with UTAG executives who shared serious concerns about how the continued strike could disrupt the revised academic calendar,” he noted.

Mustapha concluded by expressing deep gratitude to UTAG and its leadership for prioritizing students’ needs. “Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to UTAG and its leadership for their goodwill, dedication, and commitment to Ghanaian students. The NPP youth wing says Ayeekoo,” he said, looking forward to a positive academic year for students and educators alike.
