Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has reaffirmed his commitment to a campaign focused on the party’s accomplishments rather than responding to what he calls “insults” from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His goal, he said, is to secure victory in December’s election by highlighting the NPP’s achievements while in office.
During a visit to the Tano North constituency on Saturday, November 2, Dr. Bawumia met with voters in Duayaw Nkwanta as part of a two-day tour of the Ahafo Region. Accompanied by Dr. Gideon Boako, his longtime aide and spokesperson, he emphasized the importance of the NPP’s work over engaging in disputes with political opponents.
Later, speaking in Dormaa—home to Dr. Boako, who is campaigning to succeed Freda Prempeh as Member of Parliament—Dr. Bawumia expressed optimism about the NPP’s chances in the upcoming December 7 elections.
“The NDC knows they are losing and have resorted to insults. You have probably heard some of these remarks. We will not respond, as we are focused on winning. Our work speaks for itself, and we are confident of victory,” he said. “We’re committed to developmental projects for all communities. I understand concerns about the road from Tepa to Duayaw Nkwanta. Once I am President, I will ensure the road is fixed. I also plan to build a district hospital in Dormaa.”
Dr. Gideon Boako, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Tano North, assured Dr. Bawumia of strong support from the constituency. He expressed his belief that they would secure a historic victory in the 2024 elections.
“No matter what the NDC does, even if they make extraordinary efforts, I am confident of winning the seat. I know you have accepted me, and I cherish this community. We are dedicated to continuing the progress made by those who served before us, and I ask for your unwavering support. Let’s cast a strong vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Boako urged the people.
