The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has voiced serious concerns about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to award YASARKO a contract to print materials for the upcoming elections.
Through its “Eagle Eyes” initiative, which focuses on overseeing the ballot-printing process, the NDC has flagged significant challenges related to YASARKO’s performance. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who heads the NDC’s elections and IT department, took to Facebook to express doubts about the EC’s selection process for YASARKO. Dr. Boamah alleged that the company has repeatedly fallen short of fulfilling its obligations, leading to mounting frustration among NDC representatives who are monitoring the printing process around the clock.
He noted that YASARKO’s recurring “excuses” cast doubt on both the company’s reliability and the legitimacy of the contract itself.
NDC observers also suspect that YASARKO may have intended to produce ballot papers at an alternate site, raising concerns about the potential risks to the integrity of the electoral materials.
Additionally, reports of excess ballots being produced have led the NDC to reach an agreement with printing companies, ensuring accountability measures are in place for any surplus materials before they are discarded.
