Mr. Moses Kwesi Baiden Jnr, the CEO of Margins ID Group, has called on business leaders to take an active role in shaping economic policies that foster growth and promote political accountability. He underscored that the vision for Ghana’s future will not materialize by mere luck but through deliberate action.
“This transformation will occur because we choose to step up, engage, and demand excellence from ourselves and our leaders,” Mr. Baiden remarked during the inauguration of the “1st Ghana CEO-Presidential Manifesto Gala Dinner” in Accra.
A Catalyst for Change and Unity
Baiden referred to the Gala Dinner as a pivotal moment, a catalyst for change, and an essential gathering for Ghana’s business and political sectors.
He pointed out that this event offers business leaders a rare chance to express their concerns and work in tandem with political figures to establish a roadmap for lasting economic advancement.
Direct Engagement with Political Leaders
Baiden noted that the Gala provides an unparalleled opportunity for business leaders to engage directly with the nation’s highest political authorities. He highlighted that this initiative marks a significant step toward creating a future where business prosperity coexists with effective governance.
Creating a Collaborative Future
Mr. Baiden emphasized that this event serves as more than just a forum for expression; it’s about outlining a collaborative agenda for a future rooted in partnership.
The business sector aims to hold political leaders accountable for their promises, foster a climate that nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship, and ensure that Ghana remains a land of opportunity for future generations.
Strategic Recommendations for Lasting Growth
Baiden remarked that sustainable development hinges on teamwork, proactive measures, and accountability. He pointed to Ghana’s vast potential, not only in natural resources like gold, oil, and cocoa but also in its people and innovative spirit.
“We require a governance framework that aligns with this potential, eliminates growth barriers, and empowers our enterprises to compete globally,” Mr. Baiden stated.
He proposed several strategic initiatives, such as establishing a Permanent Business Advisory Council to guide policy reform, revamping the regulatory landscape, bolstering the digital economy, and prioritizing data-driven policymaking.
These measures, he argued, are vital for creating a robust, resilient, and inclusive economy.
A Movement for Change and Accountability
Baiden described the Gala as a movement—a venue for the business community and political leadership to unite and forge a new path toward economic advancement and accountability.
Reviving the Business Economy for Progress
Discussing the event’s theme, “Reviving the Business Economy and Social Contract for Growth: A Business Manifesto for Political Accountability and Sustainable Development,” Mr. Baiden stressed the critical need for business leaders to engage in the policy-making processes that drive economic progress and ensure transparency.
Commitments for a Flourishing Future
He highlighted that the commitments arising from this platform—whether through the Social Contract Signing or the promotion of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs)—are essential for creating an enabling environment for businesses and securing Ghana’s future. He encouraged business leaders to embrace the role of leadership and actively engage in this significant dialogue.
Highlighting Economic Potential and Responsibility
Ernest De-Graft Egyir, Founding CEO of Chief Executives Network Ghana, supported this perspective, noting Ghana’s untapped economic potential despite challenges like instability and the need for improved political transparency.
Egyir mentioned that a key aspect of the Gala will be the signing of a social contract by the candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), where they will publicly pledge to uphold good governance and economic collaboration.
A Call for Partnership
George Ankomah, Lead Tax Partner at Deloitte, speaking on behalf of Daniel Kwadwo Owusu, Country Managing Partner at Deloitte Ghana, urged both business and political leaders to synchronize their efforts for sustainable development.
He noted that while political manifestos offer insights into future directions, it is the cooperative actions between the private sector and political leadership that will ultimately determine Ghana’s prosperity.
Gala as a Springboard for Future Growth
Organized by the Chief Executives Network Ghana in collaboration with Deloitte, PwC, the University of Ghana, UPSA Law School, and the Multimedia Group, the Gala will serve as a platform for CEOs and political leaders to align their strategies for economic growth and social responsibility beyond 2025.
