John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has committed to revitalizing market centers nationwide through a proposed market enhancement program.
Mahama envisions that the initiative will not only stimulate commerce, particularly among women, but also boost the local economy as a whole.
Speaking at an event in Adjei Kojo within the Tema West Constituency as part of his Greater Accra campaign, Mahama reaffirmed his dedication to women’s empowerment.
“In the first 120 days, we will provide initial funding for the women’s development bank, ensuring that our mothers and sisters can access loans with minimal interest, and no collateral is required. This will allow them to grow their businesses and support their families,” he stated.
He added, “Additionally, for our women, we will launch the market enhancement program. Wherever there is a market, we will upgrade it—properly engineering and constructing it, with solid flooring so that people don’t have to walk through mud when it rains. We want to create inviting markets where people feel comfortable and excited to shop.”
