I’ve Fulfilled 80% Of My Promises – Nana Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reflected on his tenure, asserting that he has achieved 80 percent of the pledges he made to Ghanaians since assuming office. Speaking in Takoradi during a “Thank You” tour of the Western Region on Wednesday, November 6, he encouraged voters to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the next election, arguing that Bawumia would continue the momentum of progress set by his administration.

Akufo-Addo emphasized that one of his administration’s most impactful achievements has been the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative, which he considers his flagship contribution to the education sector. He pointed out that this policy has significantly reshaped the nation’s educational landscape.

“The 2016 and 2020 manifestos of the NPP have largely been realized, with my administration fulfilling 80% of those commitments,” he stated. “Education is the bedrock of any nation, and we’ve focused on addressing critical gaps in this area.”

According to Akufo-Addo, prior to his administration, more than 100,000 junior high school graduates annually were unable to advance to senior high school (SHS) due to financial constraints, despite being academically qualified. Over a decade, this situation left around one million young Ghanaians without the opportunity to further their education, which he described as a significant loss for the country’s future.

“This is precisely why the Free SHS policy was introduced,” he explained. “By covering these fees, the government has enabled students to continue their education, securing a brighter future for Ghana’s youth.”
