The Ghana Black Stars have continued their decline in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola rankings following an underwhelming performance during the October international break.
Ghana has now dropped three places, sliding from 70th to 73rd globally. On the African continent, the team has also fallen, occupying 14th place. This latest ranking setback comes after the Black Stars played out a draw and suffered a defeat to Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team had already dropped to 70th in September, following similarly disappointing results in earlier AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
As four-time African champions, Ghana now faces the serious possibility of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, as they remain winless in Group F of the qualifiers.
Elsewhere, Comoros, who are in the same World Cup qualifying group as Ghana, have made significant progress, rising ten places globally.
At the top of the rankings, Argentina continues to hold the number one spot, with France, Spain, England, and Brazil rounding out the top five. In Africa, Morocco remains the highest-ranked team, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria.
Ghana’s next fixtures in the AFCON qualifiers will see them take on Angola and Niger as they aim to secure a place in Morocco 2025.
