GFA is Anti-Asante Kotoko – Dan Kwaku Yeboah

Ace sports broadcaster, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has stated that the current leadership of the Ghana Football Association does not want the progress of Asante Kotoko.

Expressing his disappointment with the manner in which the football association treated the referee who officiated Asante Kotoko’s match against Accra Hearts of Oak, the celebrated sports presenter indicated that there is an obvious agenda against Kotoko.

“The current leadership of the Ghana Football Association does not want Asante Kotoko to succeed” he averred.

In his view, there have been matches played months ago in which officiation didn’t live up to expectations and these cases have duly been brought before the GFA. None of them, he emphasized, has been dealt with but a match played between Kotoko and Hearts a few weeks ago has had referee Paddy suspended for the rest of the season.

“This has a lot to do with Nana Yaw Amponsah. Kurt Okraku sees Nana Yaw Amponsah as a rival and a threat to his presidency. This is why his antagonism has been extended to Asante Kotoko” Kwaku Yeboah indicated.

It is instructive to note that Ebusua Dwarfs’ supporters only threatened a referee but the GFA gave them a 6-match ban and a fine of GHC10,000.

Nsuatreman United’s supporters beat a referee and got a one-year ban. Real Tamale United’s supporters beat up a referee but was not allowed to play an FA Cup match and one league match at home. Due to their match against Kotoko, RTU was ‘forgiven’ by Kurt Okraku.

All these are indicative of the fact that the laws of the Ghana Football Association are applied depending upon which team is in the picture. There is a clear case of a travesty of justice.

The sports journalist entreated Asante Kotoko to remain focused on the rest of the matches and win the league as a slack would cost the team.

Dan Kwaku Yeboah made these remarks on PeaceFM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Friday, April 22, 2022 with Nana Yaw Kesseh Cardinal as the host of the show.
