Kwabena Koduah, widely recognized as DJ Ikon, has garnered four nominations in the upcoming 12th edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, organized by Merqury Republic.
DJ Ikon is in the running for awards in four categories: Male Radio DJ of the Year, Artist DJ of the Year, Event DJ of the Year, and Afrobeats DJ of the Year. In the Male Radio DJ category, he faces stiff competition from prominent figures like DJ Wobete of Joy FM, Mr. Shark from Pluzz FM, and Y FM’s DJ Sly King. Meanwhile, in the Afrobeats DJ of the Year category, DJ Ikon goes head-to-head with top-tier DJs, including ADDJ and DJ Quest.
As the resident DJ for Hitz FM’s Cruise Control and The Mixtape Show, DJ Ikon is eagerly hoping to clinch his first award and is confident of emerging victorious in the categories where he has been nominated. He also serves as the official DJ for renowned Ghanaian rapper, Kofi Mole.
The organizers of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards Festival have already revealed the initial lineup of performers for the grand event, which will take place on November 9, 2024, at The Palms Convention Center. The stage will be lit up by popular acts such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kwabena Kwabena, Andy Dosty, and Keche.
Over the past 12 years, the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards has featured stellar performances from a wide range of top artists, including Kofi Mole, Black Sherif, Medikal, DJ Vyrusky, Andy Dosty, DJ Switch, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, MzVee, Captain Planet, Patapaa, Adina, D-Black, Flowking Stone, Mr. Drew, and many more.
As part of the larger Ghana DJ Awards Festival, Merqury Republic organized the fifth edition of the Ghana DJ Clinic on Saturday, September 7. This educational event was designed to inspire and equip both emerging and established DJs with skills and knowledge, as well as to encourage collaboration among creatives in the industry.
