The melodramatic episodes that have engulfed the opposition National Democratic Congress are moves to oust the Minority Leader by the Mahama camp.
Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongue, in a letter written to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, stated that he was resigning from the Appointments Committee on a principled position.
Meanwhile, checks with some top officials of the opposition party by MyABCLive.com have revealed that the North Tomgue Member of Parliament is embarking on an agenda which is ultimately aimed at taking over as the Minority Leader.
In order to be seen as having the interest of Mahama in particular and the NDC largely at heart, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stabbed Haruna Iddrisu in the back with his move.
Prior to the resignation letter being written by Ablakwa, our sources have said, a meeting was conveyed by a group of party executives who are championing the cause of Mr. Mahama where this agenda was mooted.
Haruna Iddrisu, they determined, would be a threat to the successful comeback of Mr. Mahama and, therefore, had to be sidelined.
Ablakwa, it was decided, would be seen to have shown mettle and that would lead to the rank and file of the party accepting him as the next leader of the Minority in Parliament.
MyABCLive.com can authoritatively confirm that series of moves are in the offing to finally put the nail in the coffin of Haruna Iddrisu.
